TRAX 2009 SHOW REPORT!
We took over Silverstone race circuit, added a certain chap called Ken Block into the mix and joined 16,000 people for a full-on Sunday session at TRAX. Was it good? Damn straight!
TRAX is always one of the most anticipated shows in the calendar, and for 2009 the hype had been building steadily before the big day. And what a day it turned out to be! The atmosphere was buzzing and it went down as one of the best shows in history. From the acres of great club cars to the top-quality drifting, non-stop track action and the addition of Ken Block, TRAX saw the 2009 season out with a bang.
The huge trade area was packed with the leading names in performance tuning, with Rude Racing offering up to 50% off special deals and Team Dynamics, KW Automotive, Yokohama and TAROX all having a major presence.

The weather kept its side of the deal and the Grand Prix circuit remained dry throughout, with track time sold out in record time the circuit remained packed. On top of that, KW Automotive were offering a free track session with every subscription to Redline magazine, and the full fleet of Thorney Motorsport race cars were present, joined of course by the Fast Car, Redline and Fast Ford boys all day.
The Redline Nurburgring Power Paddock was packed with a range of tuned cars and was a focal point for the performance-minded, with thousands of horsepower on display from a selection of, grip, drift and everyday road cars.
The VI-Monitor sponsored 0-60 strip was packed all day with the winners being Andrew Speck in his FWD Tigra, John Armstrong in his RWD MK2 Escort and Andrew Gallacher in his 4WD Focus. All these lucky winners received a brand new VI-Monitor worth over £300. This year also saw the addition of Thunder Alley with some of the UK’s finest street legal drag cars tearing up the strip in record time and creating non-stop spectacle and noise.
As ever the Meguiars Park ‘n Pose display area brought together the finest of the UK’s show cars on display. Mark Lampard with his stunning Honda S2000 can now look forward to receiving a copy of Redline every month, the UK’s finest performance tuning magazine. Also on display were the selection of fine supercars from a prototype Deronda to a chrome R8.

Drifting within the UK is going from strength to strength and it’s fair to say the JDM Allstars did not disappoint. The highly anticipated final round of the triple crown series saw Paul Vlasblom take home the win after beating Phil Morrison from Driftworks into second. The standard of drifting was awesome and was undoubtedly one of the best drift events ever held at Silverstone.
It would be impossible not to mention the man of the moment, Ken Block. With the launch of Colin McCrae DiRT 2, Mr Block brought his jaw-dropping driving antics to the UK and demonstrated how he’s become such a worldwide phenomenon, with mesmerising car control, tyre-destroying displays and his signature dirt jump; it was a sure-fire winner with the crowds. It was unbelievable that ten lucky people got the once in a life time opportunity to experience the thrill of riding shotgun with Ken in his Subaru Rally car.
Finally to round up, a big thank you to everyone who displayed a car or just came to the show to look at the stunning array of metal on display and the outstanding track action. TRAX 2009 would be nothing without the hundreds of car clubs and the thousands of petrolheads, car fanatics and tuners who make this show such a great end-of-season finale. The show wouldn’t be possible without all of our partners and sponsors including HEL Performance, Rude Racing, KW Automotive and VI Performance.
